Music and Technology

Musicians and technicians, young and old together, doing what they like to do best ... make music ... record music ... edit music ... listen to music ... learn form each other!

The general idea - our vision

  • To make music - no great plan about the kind of music we'll do - all kinds.
  • To learn to use equipment for recording editing and producing music, audio and video
  • Have a clear emphasis on supporting youth and young adults in music...
  •  ... whilst certainly not excluding older people!! (ages 13-55 so far!)

Generally, we will meet at Edgeley Methodist church (in the hall around the back) on the 3rd Saturday each month,, from 1.00 until 5.00 pm.  We also have an opportunity to develop a permanently based recording studio in the buildings of the United Reformed Church in New Mills - watch this space.
We'll post details on our website of what's happening next, where and when.

Here are some more possibilities and who take the lead;

Recording - possible help from outside agencies - Loz
Improvising - Raf, the improvisation guru
Song writing
Cubase and other techy music programs - James
Here is a piece of music produced by James on 'Reason' software called 'Another Reason'
Playing in a band, just making music together!
Guitar Gym - Tony gets nerdy about technique

We are approaching civic and community groups and businesess to support this - it might cost a bit but we hope to make a real contribution to young lives, so we hope to be succesful.
We have been funded by the Community Foundation, a Government funding group which supports community initiatives such as this.  Stockport Primary Healthcare Trust also gave us some money.
